Total Nitrogen (Grain)

Dumas method

This technique uses an Elementar varioMAX Cube combustion analyzer to determine total N in ground grain samples. A 150 to 250-mg* sample is weighed into a capsule and combusted at 900oC to determine the total amount of nitrogen present, which is determined by a thermal conductivity detector. (* - The exact mass of each sample is recorded and used in our calculations.)
